GENERAL INFORMATION. Will Rogers (1879-1935) was an actor and humorist, widely popular for his vaudeville act of talking while twirling a lasso. He wrote a series of books and an extremely popular syndicated newspaper column on the news of the day. An early enthusiast for aviation, he was killed in an airplane accident while flying with the noted aviator Wiley Post.
Baston designed him for two reasons. He admired Rogers thinking and writing and he wanted to create some figures that had broad geographical appeal. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
