GENERAL INFORMATION.  Following the success with Baston's Chiquita Banana promotion, the New York advertising agency of Young & Rubicam planned an advertising program for General Foods' Jell-O brand that involved a series of 13 Sebastians over the next five years (1952-1956). When Jell-O ran an ad showing a Scottish girl studying her budget, the headline said, "Now's the Time for Jell-O."  Before the ad appeared nationally, Jell-O sent Sebastians to its top 3,000 national accounts reminding them "...when you see this lass in your magazines and newspapers, remember how Jell-O is helping you sell.  Stock up now!"  This was followed a few months later with "Lost in the Kitchen," "The Fat Man," etc., all warning that "Now's the Time for Jell-O."
Baston worked continuously with Young & Rubicam and General Foods in their old New York City Postum Building office until the series was completed.  The Reader's Digest office was also located there.
