GENERAL INFORMATION. Somerville National Bank, in a suburb of Boston, commissioned Baston to design a miniature and pen stand inscribed "Somerville National Bank" and depicting the town's landmark, the Old Powder House (used to store gunpowrder by the Colonists). he made 500 of each. Two years later, Mayor Brennan, running for reelection in Somerville, ordered 400 with his name inscribed. Beginning in 1954, Baston supplied them as figurines and pen stands to his sores, but they were slow sellers outside of Somerville.
