GENERAL INFORMATION. A Toby jug is a small pottery pitcher modeled in the form of a person's head, a corner of which serves as a pourer. The jug is also called a fillpot, both names taken from Toby Filpot, inebriate character in the 18th century song "Little Brown Jug."
Baston designed two-dozen prototypes of Jack and Jackie Kennedy to be transferred into 50,000 sets of porcelain jiggers in Japan for distribution by Schmid. The young president was assassinated on November 22 of that year by Lee Harvey Oswald and, of course, the project was cancelled. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
