GENERAL INFORMATION. Baston designed the R. H. Stearns miniature couple in 1947 (SML-87) to sell during that store's 100th anniversary.  He produced 50 large versions for display throughout the store and then an additional100 in 1948 for display in his retail stores.  In August, 1981, during research for this book, Baston and the author found a set of molds for this piece that were unexplainably in beautiful condition.  We decided to re-offer the design in 1982 to today's dealers, once again, and 35 years later, for store display.  The design is so in demand (1982) that it is now available to dealers and collectors as Lance issue number 2447.
