GENERAL INFORMATION. The U.S.S. Wasp was one of the great aircraft carriers in American World War II naval history. When a group staged a reunion for officers and crewmen from the New England area, they asked Baston to produce a plaque to commemorate the event. He produced 100 designs illustrating a wasp stinging a Japanese ship.
