GENERAL INFORMATION. The second continuation of the Hudson pewter American History series, this plate depicts Lee's surrender to Grant at Appomattox Court House in 1865.  The rim portrays (left to right) the firing on Ft. Sumter, boys going off to war, the battle at Gettysburg, the Monitor and the Merrimack and President Lincoln delivering his address at Gettysburg.  The back of the plate bears the words of the Address.
     This plate was discontinued forever on December 21, 1978.
