comments/observations Values of Marblehead era items tend to be somewhat less than values of the same items from the Arlington era.

GENERAL INFORMATION. George and Martha Washington are the first pair of American couples designed by Baston for Carbone (a Boston gift distributor).  A gift shop at Mt. Vernon (near Alexandria, VA) "Bought grosses" of this pair over the years.  The pair, along with John Alden and Priscilla and the Williamsburg couple were best sellers in the Early Couples series.
     The individual figures were merged onto one base - George and Martha Washington - (SML-287) in 1958 and remained in Lance production for many years.
