GENERAL INFORMATION. Prescott W. Baston wanted a set Native Americans in his first series of Early Couples. The first designs bore no particular designation other than "Indian Couple."
In 1948, two years after he moved to Marblehead, MA, Baston named the two figures after a Native American couple famous in the early Marblehead settlement story, Nanepashemet and Webcowit. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
