GENERAL INFORMATION. Baston designed Dan'l Boone and Mrs. Boone in 1940, a full 24 years before Fess Parker brought the frontiersman to national attention (prime-time television in September, 1964 to August, 1970).
The real life Boone (1734-1820), an English Quaker, left Pennsylvania in 1750 and settled (1752) in North Carolina. Mrs. Boone, the former Rebecca Bryan, refused to accompany him to Florida in 1756. In March, 1775, he founded Boonesboro on the Kentucky River and later became much involved in the Revolutionary War.
The Boone pair were relatively popular sellers until the design was discontinued in 1958.From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
