GENERAL INFORMATION
President James Monroe (1758-1831) was the sixth president of the United States and declarer of the Monroe Doctrine (1823). The Doctrine states that the United States will nor permit Europe to extend its political system to the Western Hemisphere.
Portrayed with his wife, Elizabeth, the Monroe pair concluded Baston's rapid design activity to establish Sebastian Miniatures as a retail line distributed by Carbone. The next several years (1941-1945) would be occupied by production, a few designs and the dominating Word War II duties.
From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
