GENERAL INFORMATION
In 1942, Carbone, the Boston gift distributor, was unable to import its European lines because of the war. One popular line of figurines that were especially missed were a group of six children in a band made of wood by a German manufacturer before the war. At Carbone's request, Baston designed Ceramastone figurines that looked like the German wooden pieces. This accounts for the uncharacteristic appearance of these Sebastian miniatures.
Baston produced 200 sets of the Band for the 1942 Christmas season but the designs never caught on. "They didn't look like Sebastians."From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
