GENERAL INFORMATION.  Baston designed a pair for his new distributor, Schmid Bros., in the end of 1946 and beginning of 1947.  He took two characters from John Gould's Down-East story, The Farmer Takes a Wife, Satchel-Eye Dyer and his wife.  No one knew who Satchel-Eye Dyer was so Baston changed the title to "Farmer" two years later.
The figurine was converted into a pen stand and was sold through retail stores from 1958 to 1967.
