GENERAL INFORMATION: Cleveland Amory, in his Proper Bostonian, points out an old Boston law still on the books. If you have a house on the Boston Common and a person presents himself with a cow, you are legally, if not morally, required to allow him to lead the cow through your house. Dahl picked up on this with Dilemma, the cow with no cow paths. Dahl further portrayed the cow in front of the Massachusetts States House, "hanging around because there's so much bull inside."
Baton first painted him purple ("I've never seen a purple cow.," etc.) but changed him to the more popular brown. The figurine was sold by Stearns and Boston gift stores. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
