GENERAL INFORMATION. From 1946 to 1953, Prescott Baston petitioned the Guggenheim Foundation for a great to design all the presidents of the United States for use in educating School children. The grant was never awarded to him. In 1947, Baston designed Washington, Lincoln and FDR to demonstrate his plan. All three designs were issued in 1947 through Carbone, a Boston-based distributor.
The George Washington design was continued by Lance in 1976 and then was discontinued forever in 1980.From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
