GENERAL INFORMATION Baston knew the Wakefields, the people who owned the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman, MA. They asked him to design a figurine for use in a national advertising program promoting their Toll House chocolate chip cookies. He produced 4,000 pieces for them over a three-year period. In 1959, when the pen stands were being promoted, the company purchased 500 designs mounted on a larger base.
In 1950, Baston changed the cap from tri-corner to Puritan, added a cape, and sold the design through his gift shops as the "Town Crier."From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
