GENERAL INFORMATION. Harvey restaurants dotted the Great West, tracing the growth and prosperity of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railroad. The restaurants became an institution with Western travelers as did the distinctive costumes of the waitresses, the Harvey Girls.
A Carbone gift salesman, traveling from Chicago to Los Angeles, got the idea for this promotion and sold it to restaurant management in Los Angeles. The first order was for 1,000 pieces and the reorder, a year later, for 500. The figurine was used for railroad advertising. From The Sebastian Miniature Collection by Dr. Glenn S. Johnson.
