GENERAL INFORMATION. The Necco Candy Co. in Cambridge, Massachusetts commissioned a large pen stand order portraying an old-fashioned candy salesman calling on an old-fashioned drugstore owner  The resulting design had the words "Fine Candies since 1947 by Necco" highlighted in red on the end of the counter and "A Call From the Candyman" cast into the base.  Necco salesmen handled this out to heir customers.  This was Baston's first pen stand design.
In 1951, Baston removed the large base and titled the figurine "Corner Drug Store."
