GENERAL INFORMATION. The movie "Miracle on 34th Street" appeared during the 1947 Christmas season and, when it reappeared during the 1948 season it had become a classic.  Macy's Department Store, featured in the film, asked Baston to design a Santa.  The design sold briskly for many years
In 1955, Halle's department store asked for a Santa without the lamp and replaced with the street intersection of Euclid and Huron.  They bought 400 pieces.  In 1980, Blair's commissioned a Santa with the year "1980" lettered on the lamp and then sealed.  Finally, in 981, Gift Creations, a retail purchasing and cataloging center in St. Paul, Minnesota, asked for a Santa with a wire hook in the pole to serve as a Christmas tree ornament hanger.

From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.

Note on SML-123F: In October, 2004, the tape measure version showed up on an eBay auction. It was validated by Prescott W. Baston, Jr. as a 'legitimate' Sebastian originally created by his father.
