GENERAL INFORMATION. Prescott, Marjorie and Woody, age four, traveled the Fall of 1949 to Sarasota, Florida, the winter home of the Ringling Bros., Barnum and Bailey circus. The circus performed only under tent those years so the South was a winter refuge. At the request of John Ringling North and Henry North, the circus owners, he designed an Emmett Kelly figurine displaying the famous clown during his tramp routine. The circus used 1,000 figurines, sending them to newspapers in towns where they were going to appear.
Converted tot he retail "Clown" in 1952, The Clown was discontinued forever on October 31, 1979.From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
