GENERAL INFORMATION. Washington Irving (1783-1859) wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow as a short story in his Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent.  The story takes place at Sleepy Hollow, now Tarrytown, New York.  Ichabod Crane, the local schoolmaster, courts Katrina Van Tassel, the town beauty.  In this depiction, he demonstrates an intricate step to Miss Van Tassel.
In 1981, the Sebastian Collectors Society reissued the design, available only to members, and set up permanent retirement for August 30, 1983.

From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
