comments/observations SML-169A "Synthetic wood" version used a process & material called Repron to achieve a wood-like effect. Some figures were also painted in brown to enhance this effect.  I was used for a limited number of figurines during the mid-1960's.

GENERAL INFORMATION. Baston created Shakespeare's lovers (Anthony and Cleopatra, 1607) as part of his Shakespeare Series.  He put a Queen Nefertiti-type headdress on Cleopatra.
When the movie Cleopatra was released in 1963 amid great publicity and hoopla, Baston changed the Egyptian headwear to black hair as worn by Elizabeth Taylor in the movie.
