GENERAL INFORMATION. The fish house in Rockport, Massachusetts is reputed to have been the source material for more paintings than any other building in the country. Baston designed it for sale in gift shops in Rockport, located a few miles from Marblehead.
In 1956, Baston received a commercial order for 200 pieces from the Rockport National Bank.
The building was destroyed in the East Coast blizzard of February, 1978. Baston designed the Motif No. 1 plate (SP-1) to help the Rockport Artist's League raise funds to restore the house. It has since been reconstructed and the original charm has been maintained. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
