GENERAL INFORMATION. Baston designed Mr. Obocell for the Irwin Neisler drug company. Obocell was a patent medicine for obesity, based on the theory of cutting down the taker's appetite. Mr. Obocell has become so bloated that, in bending over, the seat of his trousers has ripped. He has just discovered the damage.
Neisler salesmen gave the figure to doctors, and over a many year people, Baston produced 45,000 pieces. In 1956, Baston produced Mrs. Obocell (SML-268) as Obocell's companion. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
