GENERAL INFORMATION. Drake (1540-1596) was the first Englishman to sail around the globe.  Baston designed this miniature after one of the figureheads in the collection at the Marine Museum in Mystic, CT.  In all, about 500 were produced, including a few which were sold in a Montreal, Canada, gift store as a bust of William Shakespeare!
