GENERAL INFORMATION. Bishop Wright, head of the Worcester, Massachusetts, diocese, had a special interest in Joan of Arc. Baston designed a square-based figurine with "St. Jean d'Arc" cast in the base. The Bishop distributed 1,200 to selected parishioners. Two years later Baston rounded the base, Anglicized her name and distributed the miniature through his stores.
The fleur-de-lis pattern on her armor was difficult and expensive to paint. Baston tried to sell a bronzed, less expensive version, but sales of the unpainted version were always low. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
