GENERAL INFORMATION. At the request of a Florida gift shop, Baston designed a black boy and pelican sitting on the piles of a Florida harbor. The bird is looking intently at the catch. Baston named the piece after the poem: "An amazing bird is the pelican, his mouth can hold more than his bellican."
After four years, Baston changed the confusing name and painted the lad white. It continued in the retail line for many years. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
