GENERAL INFORMATION. Plummer's, a fine china and glass store in Manhattan, asked Baston to design a highly miniaturized nativity scene for use on an expensive music box and also as an independent figurine. Baston conceived of an entire grouping of manger, holy family, wise men, shepherds and animals under a green bower. The result, a masterpiece of miniature composition and detail. the Sebastian Miniature Nativity.
In 1961, Baston broke up the separate design elements and cast them in three individual groupings, Manger (SML-323), The Wise men (SML-324) and Shepherds (SML-325)From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
