GENERAL INFORMATION. Guiseppe Sarto (1835-1914) was named Pope Pius X in 1903. Known for his interest in the poor, he was canonized by Pius XII in 1954. Baston designed this miniature for the Archdiocese of Boston from a statue in the Holy Cross cathedral in Worcester, MA. It was used to commemorate Pius's canonization to sainthood.
