GENERAL INFORMATION. The Mission of Nombre de Dios in St. Augustine, Florida wrote Baston with a photo of the statue of Our Lady of LaLeche in their mission courtyard. He created 800 miniature replicas, 500 for the mission and 300 on speculation for his own stores. There is a small cross on top of the Lady's crown.
(Author's Note: In 1981, the author received a telephone call from the mission gift shop manager attempting, 27 years later, to place an order for another 100 pieces. I told her the miniatures were now selling at auctions for over $150. She said the original price for 500 miniatures was $1.75 each!)From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
