GENERAL INFORMATION. Miles Laboratories asked Baston to design a few dozen miniatures of their trademark, Speedy Alka Seltzer, holding a packaged bottle of Alka Seltzer tablets. After studying the prototypes, the company decided to launch a massive promotional campaign.
When the company asked for delivery dates for 250,000(!) pieces, Baston quietly thanked them for the opportunity to participate and withdrew from the project. "You can imagine what could have happened. The Studio would have folded in favor of the Marblehead Division of Miles Laboratories. My 'no' decision was easier than you might imagine."From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
