GENERAL INFORMATION. Baston designed his Seated Lincoln as a scale replica of Daniel Chester French's great marble sculpture in Washington, D.C. He reproduced both figurines and pen stands, both in white and bronzed versions. The original white color of French's work was always the most popular and the bronzed versions are much rarer than the white. He also produced a few combination bronzed pen and pencil sets (with the sculpture in the center) and the author has seen one in a private collection.
In 1962, Baston cast 2,000 in a pearly-white substance for the National Secretary's Association. The color difference is obvious when compared with the white but not easy to define when alone. From Dr. Glenn Johnson's book, The Sebastian Miniature Collection.
