GENERAL INFORMATION. The Howard Blackburn version (SML-412A) was designed for a gift shop in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It honored a famous Gloucester fisherman of that name who sailed the Atlantic Ocean single handed - twice. In 1901 he sailed his sloop, 'Great Republic' from Gloucester to Portugal in 39 days. In this particular figurine he has one foot on the coast of the U.S. and the other on Portugal.
Woody Baston modified this figure by adding a white beard and some other minor changes, adding this revised version to the Men who Made America series.
