GENERAL INFORMATION. Fanueil Hall is often referred to as "the Cradle of Liberty." Many historic events took place within this large brick Colonial building that is preserved today as a museum. It was built in 1740 and presented to Boston by Peter Fanueil as a marketplace. Meetings were (and still are) held in a spacious hall on the second floor. The lower level remains a market place today.
SML-439A was created for the Rouse Corporation (managers of the complex) to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Quincy Market Place, a popular aggregation of stores and eateries with Fanueil Hall at one edge.
