GENERAL INFORMATION. This original structure was built between 1701 and 1705. It is widely believed that Christopher Wren was the architect. The original building was destroyed by fire 1n 1741. In 1931, John D. Rockefeller devoted himself and his resources to the reconstruction of historic Williamsburg with this building rebuilt to its original form.
