GENERAL INFORMATION. Woody Baston designed this piece as a salute to the men and women who served in the Persian Gulf war. This was the first U.S. military action in which women played an active combat role. It is for this reason that both a man and a woman appear on the base. They are sown at attention saluting their comrades in arms. A large American flag with a yellow ribbon on the top serves as a backdrop to this popular item. The painted version sold out very rapidly and is now highly sought after.
